Modimo ke Setshabelo is a fully functional after care facility situated in the heart of Thokoza, Alberton. The facility was established by the Bedfordview Methodist Church along with the Thokoza Methodist Church in 2003, and aims to provide aid to orphaned children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.
Setshabelo is the Sotho word for "refuge" or "sanctuary", and is appropriate for the role we want to play in the lives of the children with whom we work. Our motto, "We lift them up", reflects our intent to positively impact on the lives of the children with whom we work in all spheres. ![]() All the children enrolled to this project live in the area and come to the facility after school. They are assisted with their homework and also receive computer, life skills and mentorship training. ![]() The current facility has a kitchen, toilets, a computer room, class room, arts & crafts room, vegetable garden and the latest donation, tables and benches. ![]() Setshabelo has a team of care givers, kitchen and maintenance staff who see to the needs of the children on a daily basis. |
